qFacebook is a social network service and website launched in February 2004 that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc.
qAs of July 2010, Facebook has more than 500 million active users, which is about one person for every fourteen in the world.
qUsers may create a personal profile, add other users as friends and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile.
qFacebook allows anyone who declares to be at least 13 years old to become a registered user of the website.
qFacebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow computer science students Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.
qThe website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University.
qIt gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over.

qIt has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service.
qFacebook's privacy has also been an issue, and the safety of their users has been compromised several times.
qFacebook settled a lawsuit regarding claims over source code and intellectual property.
qThe site has also been involved in controversy over the sale of fans and friends.
qFacebook has approximately 1,400 employees and offices in eight countries.

qHowever, in a July 2010 survey performed by the American Customer Satisfaction Index, Facebook received a score of 64 out of 100, placing it in the bottom 5% of all private sector companies in terms of customer satisfaction, alongside industries such as the IRS e-file system, airlines, and cable companies.
qThe Social Network, a comedy-drama film directed by David Fincher about the founding of Facebook, was released October 1, 2010.
qThe film was written by Aaron Sorkin and adapted from Ben Mezrich's 2009 book. The film is being distributed by Columbia Pictures.
qNone of the Facebook staff, including Zuckerberg, is involved with the project.

qTeenagers' (below 18) market share might be one of the main reasons why Facebook is still behind Friendster in Malaysia.
qRegional wise, Malaysia has the most Facebook users in Southeast Asia.
qThis enables the 4th largest population in the world overtaking Singapore at second place and maybe Malaysia in the near future.
